Thankful Thursday

This Thursday I have some special thank-yous to "The Man"...

I am thankful for...

  • the VanAlstines. They were truly wonderful people.
  • the opportunity He gave me to be volleyball-coached by one of the best. It was fun and hard!
  • the two amazing little girls they have left behind and their bright futures laid out by their parents, as well as the daughter who has joined them in Heaven.
  • the friends I had in Shyla & Phillip. How I do wish I had gotten to know them more.
  • the lives they have touched in life and death.
  • their families who are grieving, but no doubt celebrating the greatness that had graced their presence.
  • the ability to pray to You for them and the hope that others will too.

Shyla, Phillip, and their 7yr old daughter Haylie were killed Tues. in Louisiana on a family trip. They leave behind Kaytie (4yrs), currently in the hospital, and Avery 18mths (not w/ them during the accident.) Here is the news link...

I read about something lately that has really touched my heart. I have never read the book (so don't quote me as recommending it, please) it is called"The Shack" by William Young. In it God tells the man (who's daughter was killed) that there is no sadness in heaven and when he is sad, his daughter isn't able to look down on him.

This makes me want to smile, and be happy and go on and live my life and let that person(s) see me in my joy, even when I miss them so bad it hurts. If it is true, I do not know, but it gives me hope, a purpose to not be so sad. I can grieve, but the trip to Heaven will seem so much longer if I take the "Eeyore approach" to life. I hope that makes sense. In Thursday fashion, thank you for letting me empty my heart onto this page!

Flashback Friday

~Hannah~
I know I haven't shared any pics of Hannah as a baby. Truth is, I don't have but a couple. Here she is, as a toddler, at an old-tyme photo place. I can hardly remember this sweet little girl. Stay-tuned tomorrow for a more updated pic!

You've gotta hear this song!

I heard this song yesterday and it really got me thinking. So many times we don't realize we are slowly pulling away from the Lord. It isn't usually a big leap, just little things we do that seperate us, little by little. Then we wonder how the canyon got there.

It's called "Slow Fade" by Casting Crowns. WOW! It gets me a little more, each time I hear it!

Thankful Thursday!!

There are so many thing I could thank God for, but I will start simple.

I am thankful for...

  • the children I teach, b/c it is I who learn from them.
  • my messy house, b/c it means I have a place to live.
  • my fussy children, b/c I gave the gift of life.
  • the rainstorm coming for the next few days, b/c HE will be watering my grass!
  • my wonderful husband who works for much less than "I" think he deserves.
  • cheaper gas prices.
  • reconnecting w/ old friends.
  • my dysfunctionally functioning family.
  • the courage God has afforded me, to do things, I really am scared to.
  • God's great and merciful love!
  • YOU!

Yes, you! I am thankful to my readers, friend, family, strangers alike. God made you and I want to thank Him so much for allowing you into my life! Have a blessed day!

Silly Sundays

Keeping up with my new daily themes (my goal is at least 5 a week)I am declaring today Silly Sunday. Today, I will post funny comics I have found on the web or those I have read in my Sunday paper. I will mention that this particle artist will be showcased, for probably the next year, seeing as I have found nearly 100 comics that apply to me, or make me laugh in general.

This one is especially meaningful because being SAHM, I always wonder "what if?" I do not regret this job at all, but I still have an imagination, just much much smaller than my 3yr old. =)

Just working on tons and tons of pictures! Here is the first set I have done. They were taken this weekend. I have a lot of trips pictures I have to transfer from Casey's computer tonight (fingers crossed) as well as July 4th/Birthday pics to edit. While I am working on these...noone please come over to my house!!! Seriously, in order to share these pictures I have to neglect a few of my daily duties. I can barely see my floors and I am only on day 1. Yikes!

Enjoy!
